     Tour Itinerary:

     Day 01                  MUNICH

    Arrive in Munich and make your way to your hotel, the Regent, situated enxt to Munich’s main Railway Station. Tonight you will meet your Tour Director and travelling companions in the hotel lounge area for a “Welcome Drink” followed by dinner. (D)
     
    Day 02                  MUNICH - ROYAL CASTLES - OBERAMMERGAU - MUNICHNeuschwanstein Castle
    Today you have a full day sightseeing, travelling the short distance to southern Bavaria to the town of Fuessen, and visiting the nearby Royal Castle of Neuschwanstein. This fairytale castle was the model used by Walt Disney for his “Fantasy Land” castle at Disneyland. After the guided tour, travel to Oberammergau - the small village renowned for its wood carvings and the famous Christmas ornament shop of Kathie Wohlfahrt. Afternoon return to your hotel. Free evening to begin exploring Munich’s pedestrian zone with it’s beautiful Christmas Markets. (B)
     
    Day 03                  MUNICH
    After a short driving tour around the city that will include Nymphenburg Palace and the Olympia Park - the remainder of the day will be at leisure to continue exploring Munich’s Christmas Markets, the Viktualen Market or perhaps the Deutsches Museum. Tonight you will have dinner in the world’s most famous beerhall - the Hofbrauhaus. (B,D)
     
    Silent Night Chapel.jpgDay 04                  MUNICH - OBERNDORF - SALZBURG
    You will leave Munich this morning and travel to the northwest of Salzburg to the little township of Oberndorf. Here you can see the small chapel where the worl’d most famous Christmas carol - Silent Night - was first performed in 1818. Time to visit the small Christmas Market and Post Office before you continue the short distance to the Hotel Zum Hirschen in Salzburg. Tonight you will take dinner in a local restaurant. (B,D)
     
    Day 05                  SALZBURG
    This morning you will have a guided walking tour of the old town of Salzburg - where scenes from the “sound of Music” will come alive. Mozart was born here and you can see his birthplace and family home, as well as visit the museum dedicated to his life and music. The Christmas Markets dominate the centre of the old town, and you’ll have the remainder of the day to browse, explore and enjoy this great small city. Tonight is at leisure to try one of the many restaurants in the old town. (B)
     
    Day 06                  SALBURG - BERCHTESGADEN - SALZBURGSalzburg in Winter
    Just a short drive south of Salzburg and you are back in Bavaria. You’ll visit the town of Berchtesgaden with it’s small Christmas Market, then you experience what life was like in the saltmines when you take an excursion deep into the mountains and learn how salt was “mined” - and how it became the “white gold”. Return to Salzburg to spend the remainder of the day enjoying the memorable atmosphere of the Christmas Markets. Tonight your Tour Director wil take you for a “farewell” dinner at a local restaurant. (B,D)
     
    Day 07                  SALZBURG/MUNICH - ONWARD TRAVEL
    Sadly your tour has come to an end. You can stay in Salzburg - or be transferred back to Munich Airport or railway station for your onward travel. (B)
